Satellite Images: Strikes Hit All Oil Refining Units at Salavat Refinery

Satellite images have captured the aftermath of the strike on the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat oil refinery in Bashkortostan, Russia.

Photos of the refinery, which was struck on July 14, were published by the Telegram channels Exilenova+ and CyberBoroshno.

The images show that the strike damaged the AVT-6 and AVT-4 primary oil refining units. Each unit has a processing capacity of 6 million and 4 million metric tons of crude oil per year, respectively.

As a result of the attack, technical trestles and pipelines supporting the production lines sustained significant damage.

In addition, significant damage was recorded to the roof of the logistics and production building of Shop No. 20, where various grades of high-density polyethylene pellets are produced. This facility serves as a warehouse and also houses large-scale equipment for manufacturing film and sleeves of various sizes.

A fire broke out at this refinery on July 14 following an attack by Ukrainian drones. According to local residents, a series of explosions was heard in the vicinity of the plant, after which thick black smoke began to rise over the industrial zone and was visible in various parts of the city.

The regional governor later reported that a massive UAV attack had been repelled and that a series of fires had been caused by debris from the downed drones.

Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat is located 1,400 km from the Ukrainian border. It is one of Russia’s largest oil refining and petrochemical production complexes.

The refinery specializes in the production of gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, bitumen, lubricants, polyethylene, ammonia, methanol, and other petrochemical products.

The facility’s design capacity is 10 million metric tons per year, while its actual processing volume for 2022 was 6.8 million metric tons. The company’s structure includes oil refining and gas chemical plants, as well as the Monomer plant.

On the night of July 16, the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck an oil depot in the occupied city of Shakhtarsk in Donetsk Oblast.

The General Staff noted that the extent of the damage and the results of the strike are currently being assessed.
