Poland will begin producing Ukrainian Seawolf surface drones as part of investments from the Norwegian defense giant Kongsberg.

Defence24 reports this development.

The project will strengthen defense industry cooperation between the two countries amid rising security threats in the region.

On Thursday, Kongsberg announced investments in Poland’s defense industry. These cover two areas: the production of MCT-30 combat modules and counter-UAS systems, as well as the establishment of production for the Ukrainian Seawolf unmanned surface vessels, which were showcased at this year’s Defence24 Days conference.

Initial plans indicate that the Norwegian company’s investment may reach PLN 250 million in the first stage and eventually grow to PLN 1 billion.

Cooperation between Poland and Norway will enable joint procurement, including for other European countries, which in turn supports the European SAFE instrument.

The publication notes that establishing production of surface drones is a way to cooperate with Ukrainian industry while locating manufacturing within the EU, which is beneficial for many reasons.
