The Pentagon still has not prepared a plan for distributing $400 million in military aid to Ukraine.

Journalist Aaron Rupar published the video of the congressional hearing on X.

During the hearing, Delaware Senator Christopher Coons asked Secretary of War Pete Hegseth when the Pentagon would finally submit a plan for how the $400 million in aid to Ukraine would be spent.

However, Pete Hegseth avoided giving a direct answer. In response, Senator Christopher Coons said that delaying even such a relatively small investment in Ukraine’s defense sends Vladimir Putin “an absolutely wrong signal” at a time when “the front line of the fight for freedom runs directly through Ukraine.”

At the end of April, it was announced that the Pentagon had unblocked a $400 million military aid package for Ukraine that the US Congress had previously approved.

The criticism came from Senator Mitch McConnell, who leads the Senate subcommittee overseeing defense spending.

During a hearing before the House committee, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth stated that the funds had already been transferred.

A day prior, in an opinion piece for The Washington Post, Mitch McConnell said that the US military aid package approved months ago had been “sitting idle” at the Pentagon.

McConnell also said that when the committee asked the US Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Elbridge Colby for an explanation, they received only “a brush-off.”

Mitch McConnell also recalled that Elbridge Colby supported last year’s decision to suspend weapons deliveries to Ukraine.

Meanwhile, acting Under Secretary of War (Comptroller) Jules Hurst, who also testified before the House committee, said that contracts for the use of these funds have still not been signed.

He explained that the final allocation of the $400 million will depend on what weapons and military equipment Ukraine ultimately decides to purchase.
