Paraguay has received the first batch of A-29 Super Tucano light turboprop strike aircraft for its Air Force.
The press service of the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer first announced this on June 30.
The country’s air fleet has been replenished with four military aircraft of this model.
The handover ceremony was attended by the country’s top military and political leadership and representatives of the manufacturer.
In total, Paraguay has ordered six Super Tucanos, taking out a loan of about $104 million last year.
In addition to the aircraft themselves, this price includes the appropriate logistics package for the maintenance and support of the aircraft, as well as simulators for pilots.
The new A-29 Super Tucano aircraft will be used to combat drug cartels, including their aircraft, and provide air support to ground forces.
Late last year, the Portuguese government also approved a deal to purchase 12 A-29N Super Tucano turboprops. This version of the aircraft is specially designed to meet the requirements of NATO countries.
