The expansion of the 412th NEMESIS Regiment of the Unmanned Systems Forces (USF) to brigade level will allow the creation of units that operate sea drones.

The brigade’s press service shared this announcement.

“The unit has grown from a battalion to a brigade in less than two years, has accounted for about 20% of all confirmed strikes on enemy air defense systems in occupied Ukrainian territory, and destroyed enemy equipment worth about $3 billion. Since December 2024, the 412th Nemesis Regiment has been in the top 10, and since June 2025, in the top 5 of the DELTA ranking among the most productive units of Ukraine’s Defense Forces,” the statement reads.

According to the brigade, upgrading to brigade level will allow development of the “Middle Strike” capability, including FPV drones, naval drones, ground robotic systems, and UAV interceptors. The brigade did not specify which naval drones it will receive or the tasks assigned to them, but footage in a promotional video shows Magura V5 USVs.

“With a larger staff and expanded equipment, the unit will be able to scale and increase its effectiveness,” the brigade shared.
Robert “Magyar” Brovdi, the commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, first announced the regiment’s expansion to a brigade in early October. The restructuring is part of a broader effort to increase strike capabilities.

Expansion of the Unmanned Systems Forces

Currently, unmanned units make up about 2% of Ukraine’s Defense Forces. Under the restructuring plan, the command aims to increase this to 5%. On October 30, an open recruitment campaign was launched for 15,000 new positions within the Unmanned Systems Forces.
Several key units are undergoing expansion:

  • The 414th Birds of the Magyar Separate Brigade has doubled its personnel and technical assets and can now execute systematic strikes against critical enemy infrastructure beyond the front line.
  • The 14th Separate Regiment has been reorganized into the 1st Separate Center — responsible for training, reconnaissance, and coordination of unmanned operations, improving real-time cooperation between units.
  • The 20th Separate K-2 Regiment has been restructured into the 20th Separate Brigade.
  • The 412th Nemesis Regiment has been granted the status of the 412th Separate Brigade.
  • The 413th Raid Separate Battalion has been expanded to the 413th Raid Separate Regiment, enabling an increase in raid groups for targeted strikes on enemy forces and assets.

Additionally, two new units have been formed within the Unmanned Systems Forces — the 427th Rarog Separate Regiment and the 411th Hawks Separate Regiment.

In October, Unmanned Systems Forces caused one in three confirmed Russian losses. According to the command, the units struck 8,060 Russian servicemen in October, of whom 4,710 were killed.

“An increase of 20.2% compared to September (6,659),” Brovdi shared.
