Moldova has received a batch of FPV drones from Lithuania to strengthen its security and defense capabilities.
Lithuanian Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas announced this on social media after a meeting with Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
According to him, this batch includes 100 unmanned aerial vehicles, the model and technical characteristics of which are not disclosed.
“Thank you for the warm welcome and in-depth discussions, Dorin Recean. Our countries have excellent bilateral relations, we are friends not only in words but also in deeds,” Paluckas emphasized.
The Lithuanian prime minister noted that the transfer of drones is a clear manifestation of Lithuania’s support.
“Today we transfer 100 FPV drones to strengthen Moldova’s security,” Paluckas wrote on Twitter on May 23.
In addition, he stressed that the two countries are actively cooperating to strengthen defense capabilities, energy security, and exchange experience to promote Moldova’s European integration course.
In early May, Militarnyi reported that Czech CZ Bren 2 assault rifles had started arriving in the Moldovan Armed Forces.
New small arms were spotted in the arsenal of the 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion during celebrations marking the 26th anniversary of the unit’s creation.
However, there has been no official announcement about the delivery of CZ Bren 2 rifles to the Moldovan military. These automatic weapons could have been purchased by the government or transferred as part of a military aid program.
In April, the European Council agreed to allocate €20 million to Moldova to modernize the country’s air defense within the European Peace Fund (EPF).
The funds will be used to fund launchers and missiles for short-range anti-aircraft missile systems.
