Drones Strike Oil Processing Unit at Perm Refinery

Ukrainian long-range strike drones hit an oil processing unit at the Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez oil refinery in Perm, Russia.

The monitoring outlet Exilenova+ reported the strike. Videos shared by eyewitnesses show a fire burning at the refinery, with thick black smoke rising above the facility.

Since early morning, reports have indicated drone attacks across the region, including drones heading toward the city of Perm.

Oil Refinery

The Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez oil refinery is one of Russia’s largest oil refining facilities and a key industrial facility in Perm Krai.

The oil refinery has a design processing capacity of around 13 million tonnes of crude oil per year. It produces petrol, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene and lubricants, and also processes associated petroleum gas.

The refinery’s products supply the aggressor state’s domestic market and have also been exported.

The distance from the front line to the refinery struck today is more than 1,500 kilometers.

The Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez refinery has been targeted by drones operated by Ukraine’s Defense Forces on several previous occasions. Strikes were reported on May 7 and 8, while another drone attack took place on April 30.
