National Security Advisor Mike Waltz suggests that, as part of ceasefire negotiations, Ukraine may need to consider ceding certain territories, while Russia should agree to the deployment of peacekeepers “under the framework of European involvement.”

European Pravda reported on this, citing Waltz’s appearance on CNN.

He stated that the question of American security guarantees, or the absence of them, is still an issue to be addressed in future discussions.

In his interview, he placed the responsibility for security on the European Union.

“These should be security guarantees led by Europe; this is Europe’s partial contribution to its own security,” Waltz stated.

As for what is required from Ukraine, he emphasized territorial concessions, and from Russia, “concessions regarding security guarantees”:

“I want to say that this war must end, and for that, territorial concessions are needed. This will require concessions from Russia regarding security guarantees.”

Regarding the realization of this scenario, he said:

“This requires all parties to sit down at the negotiating table. And we are working very hard to advance these negotiations.”

When asked by the host to specify these concessions for Russia, he replied:

“We cannot get specifics from the Ukrainians, but it is obvious that it will be a certain territorial concession in exchange for further security guarantees.”

According to U.S. National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, this was discussed during previous rounds of talks.
