Attack drones struck the Syzran Oil Refinery in the city of Syzran, Samara region.
ASTRA Telegram channel reported on this.
The attack took place on the night of July 11–12, 2026, resulting in a major fire on the refinery’s grounds.
According to photos and videos shared by local residents, the fire on the plant’s grounds is still burning as of 7:00 a.m. Kyiv time.
Based on the analysis by the Telegram channel Dnipro Osint, the ELOU-AVT-5 unit, which accounts for up to 30% of the plant’s primary refining capacity, was likely damaged.
The Syzran Oil Refinery is part of the PJSC NK Rosneft oil company. The refinery has the capacity to process between 8.5 and 8.9 million metric tons of crude oil per year, which accounts for more than 3% of Russia’s total output.
Its products include automotive gasoline, diesel fuel (K5/Euro-5 grade), jet fuel, fuel oil, and bitumen. The refinery is located more than 800 kilometers from the Ukrainian border at coordinates 53.07796210082914, 48.394046778312116.
This is not the first time Ukrainian attacks have targeted the facility. For example, on May 21, 2026, the plant’s grounds were also attacked by drones.
At that time, the main AVT-6 crude oil refining unit, which accounted for over 70% of the plant’s capacity, was seriously damaged.
After that, the plant completely shut down for an extended period. In addition, the attacks continued from 2024 through 2025. For example, in August 2025, drones attacked the oil refinery three times: on the 15th, 24th, and 30th.
Militarnyi previously reported that Ukrainian drones targeted the Ilsky Oil Refinery in the Krasnodar Krai on the night of July 10.
Local authorities, as is typical for Russia, claimed that the fire at the facility was caused by falling “UAV debris.”
