Macron Calls on Europe to Create Its Own Oreshnik System to Deter Russia

French President Emmanuel Macron stated that Europe urgently needs weapons comparable to Russia’s Oreshnik system.

According to Macron, this is essential for deterring Russia and ensuring the strategic security of the continent. He made the remarks during his New Year’s address to the French armed forces at Air Base 125 in Istres, with the event and speech broadcast on the Élysée’s official X account.

Macron also stressed that in today’s world, freedom can only be guaranteed through military strength and determination.

He also said that France, together with Italy and the United Kingdom, has developed a new air defense system.

According to Macron, this system is more effective than the American Patriot systems.

In addition, the French president emphasized the need to rapidly expand Europe’s offensive and defensive capabilities.

He also stated that France’s role in supporting Ukraine has increased significantly.

According to him, France currently provides two-thirds of Ukraine’s military intelligence.
