In Russia’s Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, a missile alert has been declared for the first time due to a potential threat from Ukraine.

The regional government posted the warning on the social network VK.

Authorities urged residents to stay away from windows and not leave buildings until the official all-clear.

Earlier reports indicated that a missile alert had been declared in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug. Subsequently, alerts began coming in from a number of Russian regions.

The capital of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug — Salekhard— is located approximately 2,400 kilometers from Ukraine.
