International Drone Coalition summit for Ukraine to be held in Latvia

At the beginning of the next year, Latvia will host the international summit to promote the Drone Coalition.

The Latvian Defense Ministry said that the summit would be held to help Ukraine gain an advantage in the field of drone capabilities.

The summit will also discuss the supply chain of components for drones and the development of drone production in NATO member states.

The international drone coalition summit in Latvia will provide a platform for the coalition’s leadership, drone experts from different countries, and manufacturers to meet.

“Thus, we will create an opportunity for cooperation and organization of joint projects in the future in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles to make targeted deliveries of drones to Ukraine, in accordance with its current needs,” the Latvian Defense Ministry said.

The Defense Minister also said that in 2025 Latvia would allocate €20 million to the international Drone Coalition.

Latvia and Ukraine have already signed an agreement to train the Ukrainian military in the drone piloting program.

Latvia initiated and now leads the Drone Coalition together with the United Kingdom.

Since the coalition was founded in February this year, Latvia has supplied 3,000 drones of various types to Ukraine.

This year, Latvia has allocated €20 million for the needs of the Drone Coalition.

The Ministry of Defense will continue to purchase Latvian-made drones for Ukraine’s needs until the end of the year. Procurement volumes are divided into several stages to enable companies not only to gradually increase production volumes but also to adapt to Ukraine’s needs.

In June, it was reported that the Drone Coalition had raised €549 million for Ukraine’s unmanned aerial vehicles.
