The Lithuanian company Granta Autonomy has unveiled the Black Wasp interceptor drone. This aircraft is designed to counter strike, reconnaissance, and loitering munitions.

The drone features a flight control system based on artificial intelligence and machine learning, which enables automated flight, target tracking, and final guidance, the company shared with Militarnyi.

The drone is resistant to electronic warfare and can integrate with most NATO radars.

The interceptor’s maximum takeoff weight is approximately 4 kg, and its payload weighs up to 500 grams. The drone measures 600 by 450 by 450 mm.

It is equipped with an S- and C-band data link. Daylight or thermal imaging cameras can also be used.

The drone’s cruising speed is 160 km/h, and its maximum speed is 320 km/h. Its flight range is 20 km. Endurance is up to 15 minutes in cruise mode and over 6 minutes at maximum speed. Its operational flight altitude reaches 7,000 meters.

This interceptor integrates with other Granta Autonomy products: the X-Wing loitering munition and the Hornet XR reconnaissance drone. These platforms can be deployed separately or operate jointly under a single ground control station.

Granta Autonomy, founded in 2015 by Lithuanian engineers Giediminas Guoba and Laurynas Litvinas, has been supplying products since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The company conducts tests in the combat zone to adapt its products to real-world needs.

Deliveries include the annual supply of hundreds of Hornet XR reconnaissance drones, thousands of GA-FPV quadcopters, and the new X-Wing kamikaze drones.

Ukraine’s The Fourth Law and Lithuania’s RSI Europe have agreed to develop joint drone production in Lithuania as part of the Build with Ukraine initiative.

Under the terms of the partnership, RSI Europe will prepare the production facilities, while The Fourth Law will support the project with drone manufacturing technologies and artificial intelligence.
