India’s Ministry of Defense has placed a major order for 2,408 Nag Mk 2 anti-tank guided missiles and 107 NAMICA 2 tracked launchers.

Army Recognition reported this, citing the Ministry.

The system is fully developed by domestic enterprises, with Bharat Dynamics Limited as the leading manufacturer, and is intended to strengthen India’s anti-armor capabilities.

The Nag Mk 2 is a third-generation precision missile with infrared homing, a tandem warhead, and a top-attack mode.

It can engage targets at ranges between 500 meters and 4 kilometers and is capable of destroying armored vehicles, including those equipped with explosive reactive armor.

The NAMICA 2 launcher is based on the BMP-2 chassis and features an armored, retractable launcher, a thermal imager, a laser rangefinder, and an NBC protection system. Its updated architecture enables rapid salvo fire and efficient target handover between the commander and gunner.

Tests of the Nag Mk 2 and NAMICA 2 at the Pokhran range in January 2025 demonstrated stable performance under challenging conditions, including high temperatures, dust, and optical interference.
