India and Pakistan have agreed to a complete ceasefire on land, water and in the sky, starting at 5 p.m. local time.

This was announced by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India during a briefing.

According to him, Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations approached his Indian counterpart at 15:30 local time with a proposal for a ceasefire. The Indian side agreed to the proposal, and after the ceasefire was agreed upon, the parties issued the necessary orders to their military.

The next round of talks is expected to take place in two days: on May 12 at 12 p.m. local time.

This information was also confirmed by the acting Foreign Minister of Pakistan on the social network X.

“Pakistan has always sought peace and security in the region without compromising its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he said.

At the same time, US President Donald Trump said that ceasefire talks between the parties took place on the night of May 9-10 with US mediation.

Indo-Pakistani conflict

The next round of confrontation between the two nuclear powers took place after a large-scale terrorist attack in Kashmir in late April, when Islamist militants shot dead about fifty tourists. India accused Pakistan of supporting terrorists.

Three days after the terrorist attack, on the night of April 24-25, the first small arms firefight took place on the line of demarcation between the Pakistani and Indian military. This was followed by further accusations from both sides. The clashes on the border quickly escalated to a mutual exchange of artillery and missile strikes and air battles between the aviation.

On the night of May 9-10, the armies of India and Pakistan exchanged powerful missile strikes on each other’s strategic targets.

Early in the morning of Saturday, May 10, the Pakistani government announced the launch of a large-scale military operation called “Banyan Tree” (“Strong Wall”) against India, calling it a “response to aggression.”

This happened an hour after the Pakistani army spokesman, General Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry, accused India of a missile attack on three Pakistani air bases, including Noor Khan.
