In Mariupol, the occupiers shelled the “Kapitan Belousov” icebreaker

The Russian occupiers shelled the Port of Mariupol. As a result, the “Kapitan Belousov” icebreaker was caught under fire. Its civilian crew was on board.

As a result of the shelling, one person was killed. Several others were injured.

“We emphasize that Putin’s assassins continue to destroy the Port of Mariupol, which in which the foreign ships with crews are located!” stressed the Azov Regiment.

The “Kapitan Belousov” icebreaker is a diesel-electric ship built in the 1960s at the Helsinki Shipyard Wärtsilä.

Until 2004, it was owned by the Azov Shipping Company. In 2009 it was renovated at the expense of the Mariupol commercial port. Six new diesel generators were installed on the ship.

Each year, the “Kapitan Belousov” icebreaker was ensuring the passage of ships through the Coal Harbor of the Azov Sea.

Height – 9.5 m;

Draft – 7 m;

Engines – 10,500 hp;

Crew – 56 people

Defenders of Mariupol continue destroying the enemy. As reported earlier, in Mariupol, one Ukrainian BRT-4 had attacked tanks of occupiers.
