Strike drones attacked one of the largest gas processing plants in Europe – the Russian Gazprom Ust-Luga.

The Astra reported on this.

According to preliminary data, about 10 drones were launched at the plant. As a result of the attack, a fire broke out on the premises, which quickly spread.

The local authorities also confirmed the attack. According to the governor of the Leningrad region, Alexander Drozdenko, air defense forces destroyed 10 Ukrainian drones over the port, but falling debris caused a large fire at the plant.

Alongside official statements, local residents are posting videos showing drone strikes on the gas processing plant and hits on its infrastructure. The plant itself is located at coordinates 59.7091747, 28.4356830, approximately 900-1,000 kilometers from the state border with Ukraine.

The CyberBoroshno community analyzed photos and video materials and confirmed damage and critical destruction of the cryogenic gas condensate and gas fractionation unit, which is the ‘heart’ of the complex.

The Gazprom Ust-Luga complex is one of the largest gas processing plants in Europe. Its capacity allows it to process up to 45 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually, produce 13 million tons of LNG, 3.6 million tons of ethane, and 1.8 million tons of propane-butane.

It is worth noting that the plant had already been attacked in January 2024 by the Security Service of Ukraine. As a result of that strike, gas condensate tanks were damaged, which led to a suspension of the technological process at the terminal.

Additionally, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are carrying out attacks on other energy facilities in Russia to disrupt the production of fuel, which is actively supplied to the Russian Armed Forces for both armored vehicles and aviation.

On the evening of August 21st, Ukrainian drones targeted the Unecha oil pumping station, a key facility within the Druzhba main oil pipeline network that transports Russian oil.

This is the second strike on this oil pumping station in recent times, with the first occurring on August 12th.

The previous attack resulted in the destruction of two pumping units, as well as a small technical building and technological equipment located nearby.

Unecha is one of the key stations of the Druzhba main oil pipeline, which spans 5,500 kilometers.
