Police in Portugal have detained six individuals suspected of belonging to a far-right group that allegedly planned to form an armed militia.
Reuters news agency reported on this.
According to the published information, a senior police official is among those detained.
All six are suspected of involvement in a terrorist organization known as the Lusitanian Armillary Movement.
They are accused of establishing and participating in a terrorist group, inciting ethnic hatred, promoting violence, and the illegal possession of weapons.
During searches, law enforcement officers seized automatic firearms, including 3D-printed weapons, bladed weapons, and ammunition.
According to the investigation, the group aimed to evolve into a political movement supported by an armed wing.
The inquiry began after authorities discovered online content promoting violence and radical nationalist ideology, including calls for attacks on immigrants and refugees.
The arrests come amid a recent surge in activity by far-right and neo-Nazi groups in Portugal.
