Ukraine Establishes Long-Range Strike Command and Joint Rapid Reaction Forces

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have established a Long-Range Strike Command targeting Russia.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed the corresponding decree.

The new command is tasked with concentrating available resources to reduce Russia’s war potential.

“The commander in this area will be strong and certainly as experienced as possible,” Zelensky said.

The President also signed a decree establishing the Joint Rapid Reaction Forces.

This will be a new component of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, combining the combat capabilities of assault troops, unmanned aerial vehicles, and artillery, as well as other assets to ensure the fastest possible response on the front lines.

“And this must be a modern, technologically advanced assault component,” the President noted.

An experienced military officer and combat commander is to become the commander of the Joint Rapid Reaction Forces, Zelensky noted.

“I spoke today with Hero of Ukraine Dmytro Voloshyn and appointed him to carry out this task. Brigadier General Voloshyn, commander of the 8th Air Assault Forces Corps, is capable of ensuring the further development of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ capabilities in this area,” the President added.

In 2026, he was promoted to the military rank of brigadier general for his service and command of units of the Ukrainian Airborne Assault Forces.
