Strike drones were spotted over the Russian city of Omsk after reportedly traveling more than 2,500 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
The drones were reportedly headed toward the Omsk Oil Refinery, Russia’s largest oil refinery. Earlier, authorities in the Omsk region declared a drone threat for the second time.
The first such alert was issued on June 10 and lasted about half an hour. This time, however, the alert has remained in effect for more than two hours, according to the local news outlet NGS55.
Local residents shared videos showing a drone flying over the city. The SuperNova Telegram channel published footage recorded by eyewitnesses.
Omsk, located about 2,500 kilometers (1,550 miles) from the Ukrainian border, is home to Gazprom Neft’s Omsk Oil Refinery, Russia’s largest oil refinery, with a processing capacity of more than 20 million metric tons of crude oil per year.
Until now, the facility had not been targeted by Ukrainian drones.
Of Russia’s ten largest oil refineries, only two remain undamaged: the Omsk Oil Refinery and the Angarsk Petrochemical Company in the Irkutsk Region.
