Drones Attack Nizhnekamskneftekhim Plant in Tatarstan, 1,200 km From Ukraine

Ukrainian Defense Forces drones attacked the Nizhnekamskneftekhim petrochemical plant in Nizhnekamsk, Tatarstan, Russia.

According to a GEOINT analysis by Militarnyi, the attack is confirmed by photo and video footage published by the Exilenova+ Telegram channel.

The attack occurred on the morning of August 10, 2026, after a drone threat alert was issued in the region at 2:50 a.m.

Around 8 a.m., local residents began actively posting videos showing the aftermath of the strike, including a visible column of smoke rising above the facility.

According to Militarnyi’s GEOINT analysis, the strike location is at coordinates 55.5842, 51.9553, in the area of a storage facility and a combined heat and power plant. The site is approximately 1,200–1,300 km from Ukraine’s state border, or even farther when taking into account that the drones may have been launched from deeper inside Ukrainian territory.

The targeted Nizhnekamskneftekhim plant is one of the largest petrochemical facilities in Russia and Eastern Europe. It is part of the SIBUR holding company.

The plant is one of the world’s leading producers of isoprene rubber. Its facilities also manufacture butyl, halobutyl, and butadiene rubber.

In addition, the plant produces ethylene, propylene, and benzene, as well as synthetic lubricants and propylene glycol.

Products manufactured by the SIBUR parent holding company and Nizhnekamskneftekhim, including plastics, rubber, propane-butane, and solvents, are used by related enterprises in Russia’s defense sector.

The products are supplied, in particular, to Kamensky Combine and Perm Powder Plant, which produce solid rocket propellant, engines, and warhead charges for Russian cruise missiles.

In March 2026, an explosion also occurred at this facility. At the time, the city’s mayor confirmed a fire at the plant and reported that it had been contained.

Meanwhile, local residents reported seeing a thick column of smoke rising above the facility, visible from various parts of the city.
