In the Sumy sector, two Russian soldiers surrendered to a UAV of the 33rd Assault Regiment, which escorted them to Ukrainian positions where they received medical assistance. The next day, an UGV arrived to evacuate them to the rear, but they were struck by Russian FPVs en route.
This was reported by the press service of the 33rd Assault Regiment.
Pilots from the 33rd Assault Regiment’s unmanned systems battalion used drones to capture two wounded occupiers and escorted them to the forward positions of a neighboring unit, where they were given first aid and interrogated.
The following day, an UGV from the 104th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade arrived to begin their further evacuation to the rear of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian aerial reconnaissance detected the movement of the UGV and, after confirming that they were prisoners, the occupiers attacked them twice with FPV drones, which destroyed the UGV. Both sustained new injuries of varying severity; their fate remains unknown.
In early May, it became known about an incident in which a VAMPIRE drone crew rescued two Ukrainian soldiers from Russian captivity in the Northern Slobozhanshchyna direction.
This happened in April of this year. During a Russian attack on the positions of a neighboring brigade, two infantrymen were taken prisoner, and the command requested assistance. At that moment, the occupiers were already leading the prisoners toward their positions.
A few kilometers from the scene was a VAMPIRE drone crew from the 21st Separate Mechanized Brigade. Hearing the distinctive sound of the “Vampire” hovering above them, the Russians became disoriented, panicked, abandoned the prisoners, and tried to flee.
Ukrainian drone operators caught up with the occupiers and eliminated them. As a result, both freed infantrymen successfully returned to their units.
