Colombia Suspends Intelligence Sharing With the US Over Boat Strikes

Colombian President Gustavo Petro has ordered a halt to intelligence sharing with the United States until the Trump administration stops strikes on speedboats suspected of drug trafficking.

He stated this in a message on the X platform, calling such actions ‘extrajudicial executions,’ Defense News reports.

It is not specified how much information will be blocked. The White House has not yet commented on the Colombian president’s statement.

Petro called for an investigation of the US president’s actions as possible war crimes. He also accused Washington of persecuting coca farmers instead of fighting large drug cartels.

On Sunday, he met with the family of a Colombian fisherman who, according to them, was killed in one of the strikes.

The Trump administration responded by accusing Petro of leniency toward drug traffickers.

In October, the United States imposed financial sanctions on Colombia’s president and his family members, accusing them of involvement in global drug trafficking.
