All Western-made air defense systems are being integrated into a single information field of Ukrainian air defense.
Colonel Yuriy Ihnat, Spokesman of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated this.
Air defense systems that Ukraine receives from partner countries work together with Soviet-made systems.
“Yes, of course, and our Western partners would not provide us with these weapons if they could not work here,” the officer assured. – Both the IRIS-T and NASAMS systems, which are already in Ukraine and successfully used by us, have already been integrated into our air defense system. Everything is thought through, everything is integrated,” answered Yuriy Ihnat to the questions of Western journalists.
The spokesman noted that the Air Force is waiting for the arrival of other air defense systems that will help defend against the Russian invaders.
“Also, we are waiting for new anti-aircraft missile systems, including Aspide and Hawk, and they will also work in the unified information field of our air defense system. Recently, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine announced that soon they will strengthen our defense, so these systems will be deployed in various directions, and we will use them to destroy enemy missiles,” Colonel Ihnat emphasized.
The spokesman added that it is currently very difficult to protect Ukraine from enemy shelling. According to him, this happens for several reasons: the territory of the country is large, Russia attacked Ukrainian aviation and air defense from the beginning, and continues to make such attempts using all types of intelligence.
Therefore, in order to solve the task of air defense, Ukraine has created a unique system that combines various means of air defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Today, Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov announced that new air defense systems had arrived in Ukraine. This regards the NASAMS air defense systems from the USA and the ASPIDE anti-aircraft missile system from Spain.
“These weapons will significantly strengthen the Ukrainian army and make our skies safer. We will continue to shoot down the enemy targets attacking us. Thank you to our partners: Norway, Spain and the US,” Reznikov wrote.
Ukraine expected the arrival of two batteries of NASAMS air defense systems in early November. At the end of October, it became known that the manufacturer Raytheon Technologies had handed over to the US government two NASAMS SAMs intended for Ukraine.
As previously reported, the Defense Forces of Ukraine would receive a battalion of this system and missiles for it from Spain.
