The Brigade received an infantry fighting vehicle manufactured by the Ukrainian defense industry from the Soviet MT-LBu armored personnel carrier.
Photos of the armored vehicle are published on the page of the 92nd Brigade.
The modernized armored vehicle, made on the basis of a Soviet tracked armored personnel carrier, is positioned as an infantry fighting vehicle. It received additional slat armor and firepower.
The main feature of the modernization is the installation of a Ukrainian remotely controlled BM-7 Parus RWS with a 30mm cannon, twin machine guns, and an automatic grenade launcher.
According to sources close to the production, these vehicles are part of the BMP-1LB project, under which similar armored vehicles with machine guns are already being manufactured.
Until recently, their main problem was the poor quality of overhauls. In addition, the Ukrainian military repeatedly complained about the vehicles’ sluggishness and weak engines, which made the crew poorly maneuverable and vulnerable on the battlefield.
The appearance of the modernized combat vehicles in the 92nd Brigade can be traced back to the photo archive, where the first images date back to June 2024.
Based on some details, we can conclude that the vehicles in the recent and last year’s photos belong to different series. That is, the brigade could have received several batches of these IFVs.
It is worth noting that the basis of the 92nd Brigade’s armored vehicle fleet was made up of Ukrainian BTR-4E armored personnel carriers. After the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, the brigade received an amphibious modification of the BTR-4EP, which had a number of design changes, to compensate for the losses.
These vehicles are equipped with the same combat module as the modernized MB-LBUs, which unifies their ammunition and should somewhat simplify the maintenance of the vehicles by brigade mechanics.
Last June, Militarnyi reported that the production of domestic armored personnel carriers continues despite Russia’s large-scale invasion.
In addition to the 92nd Brigade, new armored vehicles were already being transferred to the 56th and 58th Motorized Infantry Brigades, as well as the Spartan and Kara-Dag Brigades of the National Guard during the war.
