Russian Omich Robotic Platform Spotted Near the Combat Zone

Russian troops have been spotted using the Omich robotic ground platform in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine.

The published footage shows an unmanned, remotely controlled tracked vehicle operating close to the front line, as reported by @TheDeadDistrict on X.

The platform is the same ground robotic system that Russian propaganda sources previously presented as a flamethrower-equipped robot.

Militarnyi previously reported that the Russians had equipped the Omich unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) with the RPO-A “Shmel” rocket infantry flamethrower, positioning it as a means for assault operations and the destruction of fortifications.

The platform features compact dimensions, a tracked chassis, and is designed to operate in a zone of direct fire contact.

A comparison of visual features – hull layout, chassis, and weapon placement – indicates that the new footage shows the same type of Omich unmanned ground vehicle (UGV).

Thus, the video from the occupied territory confirms not merely a demonstrational use, but at least limited field deployment of this robotic platform.

Meanwhile, the effectiveness and survivability of the Omich in real combat conditions remain in question, given the high vulnerability of such unmanned ground vehicles to artillery, FPV drones, and electronic warfare systems, experts emphasize.

Moreover, it is worth noting that although the unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) is positioned as uncrewed, the published photos clearly show control devices, allowing it to be operated directly from the platform.
