The United Kingdom and Türkiye plan to finalize in the near future a multibillion-dollar deal for the sale of 40 new Eurofighter jets in the Tranche 4 version to Türkiye.
Middle East Eye reported on this.
According to the publication, a firm contract for the delivery of the aircraft is expected to be signed during UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s visit to Ankara on Monday, October 27.
The two countries already signed a preliminary agreement in July for 40 aircraft and have since continued negotiations over technical specifications and pricing, which Türkiye reportedly considered relatively high. According to the publication’s sources, the United Kingdom has allegedly agreed to give production of the fighter jets for Türkiye priority status.
According to sources, the countries are expected to conclude a separate agreement on maintenance and modernization, which will cover used Eurofighter aircraft that Türkiye plans to purchase from Qatar and Oman.
The proposed deal will include the current version of the Eurofighter, known as Tranche 4, which features advanced avionics and radar systems.
Germany remains the only customer for the newest Tranche 5 generation, having ordered 20 of these fighters in mid-October. Their delivery is expected between 2031 and 2034.
