Ukrainian Tencore Develops AI Module for UGVs: Key Functions Revealed

Ukrainian company Tencore has presented an AI module for unmanned ground robotic systems that turns the platform into a semi-autonomous system.

The company announced this on its social media.

The AI KIT module provides the UGV with three main functions. The first is autonomous control (Hands-Free AI Control), which eliminates the need for constant manual control of the platform, thereby significantly reducing the operator’s physical and mental workload.

At the same time, the operator can take manual control of the platform at any time. After the controller sticks are returned to the neutral position, the system is automatically reactivated.

The second function is a return algorithm for communication loss (Signal-Loss & 180° Return Logic), which allows the platform to continue moving even in areas with severe signal degradation.

In the event of a complete loss of communication, the TerMIT UGV independently turns 180° and returns along the previously traveled safe route.

The third function is Advanced Failsafe Logic, which ensures safe platform behavior through predefined emergency scenarios.

The system also accelerates the configuration of mission parameters and platform behavior. Recorded communication-loss events can be reviewed to further analyze system performance.

During operation, the operator sees key platform parameters, including movement direction and speed, battery level, and communication quality.

The AI KIT has several mobility profiles with speeds of up to 15 km/h, allowing the platform’s behavior to be adapted to terrain, payload and mission requirements.

The system is compatible with various types of unmanned ground robotic systems. The company also announced that it is providing the first 10 kits free of charge upon request from military units. Tencore recently delivered 29 UGVs to the military.

Militarnyi learned of the testing of the AI module developed by Tencore in May. Tencore CEO and co-founder Maksym Vasylchenko shared the information in the first episode of the new Zbroya podcast series.
