Strike drones operated by the Ukrainian Defense Forces targeted the Tatsinskaya railway hub in Russia’s Rostov region, according to a report by Astra.
The attack was aimed at a section of the railway where, according to local sources, several fuel tankers were stationed at the time.
It is worth noting that the railway hub is located approximately 100 kilometers from the Ukrainian border and is used by the Russian military to transport equipment and other supplies to the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk.
In addition, due to its double-track layout, high transport volumes, and critical infrastructure (including an oil depot and grain elevator), the station is considered a logistically important point for supplying military resources.
It is worth recalling that the station was also attacked on August 5, 2025. A fire broke out on its grounds during that incident.
On the morning of August 6, Russia’s Ministry of Defense claimed that a total of 24 UAVs had allegedly been shot down overnight – including 13 over Bryansk region, 7 over Rostov region, and 2 each over Kaluga and Smolensk regions.
At present, Russian forces are working to restore railway lines in the temporarily occupied territories, primarily in Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions.
For example, a new railway connection between Rostov-on-Don and Crimea is being laid through the occupied territories, including via Berdyansk.
The aim is to reduce reliance on the Crimean Bridge and to enable safer transport of military cargo, helping Russia replenish its forces in Ukraine with equipment and improved logistics.
Despite these efforts, trains on certain sections of the railway pass near areas controlled by Ukraine, making them vulnerable to drone strikes.
Militarnyi previously reported that a dispatch building at a railway station caught fire in Russia’s Volgograd region following a drone attack on the Archeda railway junction.
