Denmark will soon approve a military aid package for Ukraine worth almost €1 billion.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said that the package would include tanks, ammunition, drones, and other equipment.
The package was announced at a press conference with President Volodymyr Zelensky and the leaders of Norway, Finland, Iceland, and Sweden.
The package will cost about €1 billion and will include ammunition, tanks, and drones.
“We are at a critical stage of the war, and we must ensure that Ukraine has everything it needs to continue the fight. That is why we are working with our partners and allies to ensure Ukraine’s long-term security,” said Mette Frederiksen.
President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked Denmark for its participation in the restoration of the Mykolaiv region and the new aid package.
He also had bilateral talks with Mette Frederiksen.
“First of all, we talked about the content of the package that we (the Danish government) will present tomorrow. There is an urgent need for ammunition and some other things on the battlefield in Ukraine now that winter is starting to show its ugly face,” Frederiksen said.
In November, it became known that Denmark would increase military aid to Ukraine by €3 billion by 2027.
The total amount of military aid to Ukraine had to increase in Danish krones by 2.3 billion in 2023, 10.5 billion in 2025, 7.4 billion in 2026, and 5.6 billion in 2027.
The additional funding will also help ensure that Denmark meets the minimum 2% of GDP defense spending agreed upon by NATO member states.
Denmark also planned to transfer the first F-16 fighter jets from its Air Force to Ukraine in the first quarter of 2024.
