The administration of US President Joe Biden appealed to Congress to provide additional aid to Ukraine.

This fact was reported by the Bloomberg news agency.

The White House is seeking $11.7 billion in the first quarter of fiscal year 2023, which begins on October 1. The funds should be used for military and economic aid to Ukraine.

The funding request for the first quarter of fiscal year 2023 will seek $7.2 billion for the Defense Department. Of those funds, $4.5 billion will be intended for equipment for Ukraine and to replenish the Pentagon’s stocks, with $2.7 billion for other military, intelligence, and defense support.

The White House is seeking $4.5 billion for the State Department and USAID to continue support of Ukraine’s government.

As previously reported, in 2022, President Biden had already appealed to Congress to approve the allocation of $40 billion to Ukraine. According to American law, these funds have to be spent before the beginning of the next fiscal year.

The last $3 billion military aid package was announced in August 2022. Presumably, it includes the production of NASAMS air defense systems for Ukraine.
