US police agencies would be sending the protective gear, including helmets and body armor, to the Ukrainian civilians.
Militarnyi informs about this.
Pete Ricketts, Governor of Nebraska, claimed that his state will be sending the 550 pieces of protective gear. Kim Reynolds, Governor of Iowa, mentioned that her state’s Department of Public Safety and 18 law enforcement agencies would be providing Ukraine with 860 pieces of gear, CNN reports.
A number of other police departments across the country, from California to Ohio and Vermont, have already joined the initiative.
They are donating non-lethal police gear to aid Ukrainian civilians.
Due to the emphasis on helping the civilian population, neither weapons nor ammunition have been included in the shipped equipment.
U.S. experts call this unprecedented for the U.S. law enforcement to be donating police protective equipment and military equipment to a foreign country involved in a protracted war.
It was previously reported that Israel would be sending six planes with humanitarian aid to Ukraine. The first plane has already delivered 10 tons of medicines and medical supplies.
“Israel has opened a humanitarian air bridge to help Ukraine. In the near future, six planes will deliver medicine, medical equipment, and food to Ukraine,” reads the statement.
The Israeli diplomatic mission in Ukraine informed that the first plane with 10 tons of drugs and medical equipment had already landed in Hungary, from where the cargo was delivered to Lviv.
