The Unmanned Systems Forces have established fire control over Donetsk Airport, destroying numerous vehicles and damaging key infrastructure at the facility.
The 1st Center of the Unmanned Systems Forces released video footage of the operation.
The video shows operators using FP-2 strike drones to destroy launcher systems and military vehicles, as well as target their crews directly on the airport’s runway.
Meanwhile, Unmanned Systems Forces units continue to systematically target the enemy’s mobile fire groups and air defense systems, forcing the suspension of flight operations.
By striking engineering vehicles, fuel tankers, and logistics hubs, they are effectively dismantling the airfield’s infrastructure.
The operation resulted in the destruction of Shahed drone launch sites, construction cranes, enemy vehicles, and storage facilities.
On March 28, reports indicated that new infrastructure for Geran and Gerbera strike drones was being built at Donetsk Airport. Since then, construction activity has expanded significantly.
By June 2, more than 130 shelters and garages for strike drones had been established across the airfield.
In addition, four reinforced-concrete storage bunkers for drones and four permanent launch positions had been constructed. New building work also began in the eastern part of the airport in late April.
In the central part of the airfield, another structure of unknown purpose is under construction. It is believed that the facility may be used to store unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
Until 2024, this area remained close to the front line, preventing occupying forces from carrying out large-scale construction work at the airfield.
However, as Russian forces advanced, the line of contact moved farther away from Donetsk Airport. By 2025, the occupiers had begun preparing the runway for the launch of Shahed-type strike drones.
