Ukrainian defense tech company EDRONE has established production of its own components for unmanned systems, including frames, motors, propellers and electronics.

Viktor Yevpak, founder and CEO of EDRONE, told this to Militarnyi.

The in-house production is intended to reduce the company’s dependence on Chinese components.
“For several years, EDRONE has been investing in the production of its own components to replace Chinese ones. These include frames, motors, propellers and various circuit boards, such as flight controllers, initiation boards and ESC boards,” Viktor Yevpak told Militarnyi.

The company considers this a shift from assembling drones from ready-made components to manufacturing the components themselves, allowing it to gradually increase the share of domestically produced parts in its drones.

For example, when producing motors, EDRONE manufactures the housings itself and also handles assembly and winding. The wire and other components are purchased from suppliers.

The company has also laucnhed battery pack assembly, propeller molding and production of landing legs for FPV drones.
“Localization allows us to achieve better quality because we control not only the final product that reaches the user, but also the components,” the company told Militarnyi.

In early August, EDRONE introduced the new Zipper unmanned system, which it describes as an inexpensive mid-range strike weapon intended for mass deployment.

The drone has a modular fixed-wing design with a large straight wing, an open tubular frame and a raised tail assembly. It will carry a warhead weighing about 3 kilograms and have a range of up to 70 kilometers.

At the end of July, Viktor Yevpak told Militarnyi that EDRONE and Romanian company OVES Enterprise planned to launch drone production in Romania.

At the first stage, the facility is expected to produce up to 1,000 drones per month. In the medium term, production capacity is expected to increase to 10,000–15,000 units per month, depending on order volumes and demand.
