Ukrainian company EDRONE and Romanian company OVES Enterprise plan to launch drone production in Romania.
This was reported to Militarnyi by Viktor Yevpak, founder and CEO of EDRONE.
OVES Enterprise is a Romanian technology company specializing in autonomous systems and AI-based solutions, while EDRONE is one of the largest drone manufacturers in Ukraine. Their collaboration began with the signing of the “drone deal” by the President of Ukraine and a partnership with the Romanian government. Following meetings at the defense industry level, three Ukrainian companies were selected as part of the Build with Ukraine initiative, including EDRONE.
The next step was for Ukrainian company representatives to select a partner from Romania.
“We’ve known Oves Enterprise for several years now. It’s known in Europe as one of the leaders in artificial intelligence development, specifically for the navigation of drones, missiles, and, for example, the F-35. They work with Lockheed Martin, Rheinmetall, and other European and American giants,” said Viktor Yevpak.
The project involves the integration of Nemesis AI technology, designed for the autonomous operation of unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as the transfer of manufacturing processes and know-how necessary to scale up production.
If necessary, the Ukrainian company can replace a number of foreign components with its own.
“Edron has been investing in the production of its own components to replace Chinese ones for several years now. These include frames, motors, propellers, and various computer boards, such as flight controllers, initiation boards, and ESC boards,” Viktor Yevpak told Militarnyi.
In the first phase, the company plans to produce up to 1,000 drones per month. In the medium term, production capacity is expected to increase to 10,000-15,000 units per month, depending on order volumes and demand, according to the Romanian publication Ziarul Financiar.
The production facility is scheduled to launch in Cluj-Napoca this fall. Initially, three types of military drones will be manufactured there: FPV drones, interceptor drones, and reconnaissance drones.
The first prototypes are scheduled to be publicly unveiled this fall, after which they will move on to the testing phase.
In the future, the product lineup may be expanded to 27 models depending on market demand.
The company will cover the entire production cycle: component integration, assembly of OVES Enterprise systems, configuration, testing, and preparation of drones for combat use.
In February of this year, EDRONE’s Baton interceptor drones completed certification.
