On the morning of September 11, Ukrainian strike drones attacked the Azot plant, part of Uralchem, in Berezniki, Perm Krai, Russia.

The attack was reported by the OSINT project Exilenova+, which released video footage from the area around the industrial site.

Local residents reported hearing explosions and gunfire, while footage circulating on social media appears to show a Ukrainian drone striking the plant.

The Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation confirmed the drone attack in Perm Krai.

In Berezniki, schools have already canceled classes, while hospitals have suspended patient appointments. Industrial facilities in the city have also temporarily halted operations.

Azot is a large chemical manufacturing facility operated by Uralchem. The plant is located at 75 Churtanskoye Highway.

According to the company, the industrial site covers approximately 140 hectares and includes 90 buildings, as well as 22 main and auxiliary production units.

The plant produces more than 20 types of products, including ammonia, ammonium and potassium nitrate, urea, ammonia water, and nitrite-nitrate salts. Nitric acid is also used in the plant’s production processes.

The facility’s products are important to Russia’s chemical industry and its associated supply chains.

Concentrated nitric acid, in particular, is used in the production of explosives, while ammonia is a key raw material for manufacturing a wide range of nitrogen-based compounds.

Berezniki is located approximately 1,500 kilometers in a straight line from Ukraine’s state border. The full extent of the damage to the plant was unknown at the time of publication.

In 2025, the Azot plant was also targeted by Ukrainian drones. The strike briefly disrupted the facility’s production process, after which operations resumed.
