On the morning of June 3, Ukrainian drones struck a Russian missile corvette while it was undergoing maintenance in a dry dock at the Kronstadt Naval Base in St. Petersburg.
Robert “Madyar” Brovdi, commander of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces, announced the attack and released footage of it.
According to Brovdi, operators from the 1st Separate Center of the Unmanned Systems Forces successfully hit the Boikiy, a Project 20380 guided-missile corvette serving with Russia’s Baltic Fleet. The vessel is capable of carrying and launching guided missile weapons.
At the time of the attack, the vessel was in the Veleshchynsky Dry Dock in Kronstadt. The ship had been undergoing scheduled repairs since February 2026.
Video footage shows that at least two Ukrainian strike drones hit the Russian corvette. A fire broke out on board after the strike, and the resulting smoke was observed from several kilometers away by local residents who witnessed the morning attack.
The Boikiy is a Project 20380 multi-purpose corvette of Russia’s Baltic Fleet, designed to operate in coastal and near-sea waters.
The ship was laid down on July 27, 2005, at the Severnaya Verf Shipyard in Saint Petersburg. It was launched in April 2011 and entered service with the Russian Navy in May 2013. The corvette is based in Baltiysk, a naval port in Russia’s Kaliningrad region exclave on the Baltic Sea.
The Boikiy is the third corvette of Project 20380 and belongs to the Steregushchy-class series of ships. It has a displacement of about 2,200 tons, a maximum speed of up to 27 knots, and an operational range of up to 15 days.
The ship’s crew consists of 100 personnel, including 14 officers. The corvette’s armament includes a 100 mm A-190 naval gun, the Redut air defense system, and AK-630 close-in weapon systems.
For anti-ship warfare, the corvette is equipped with the Uran missile system, which carries 8 Kh-35 anti-ship cruise missiles with a range of up to 260 km.
It is also fitted with the Paket-NK anti-submarine system, consisting of two four-tube 324 mm torpedo launchers mounted on both sides of the ship. The ship is designed to operate a Ka-27 helicopter.
The corvette’s missions include patrol duties, escorting naval groups and bases, engaging surface, underwater, and air targets, and protecting sea lanes within the operational area of Russia’s Baltic Fleet.
