Ukrainian Defense Forces Receive Over 1.2 Million Drones from the Ministry of Defense

In the first 11 months of 2024, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine transferred more than 1.2 million drones of various types to the Defense Forces.

Another 100,000 will arrive by the end of December.

The deliveries include reconnaissance, strike, and FPV kamikaze drones, according to the defense ministry’s website.

In particular, the Ukrainian Defense Forces received more than 40,000 reconnaissance multirotor drones, including more than 12,000 night drones. The military also received 5,000 reconnaissance aircraft-type UAVs, such as Shark, HOR, Furia, and others.

According to the Ministry of Defense, since the beginning of the year, more than 6,000 deep strike drones, including An-196 “Lutyi,” Firepoint, and others, have been transferred.

In addition, more than 2,000 reusable multi-rotor attack UAVs, such as Nemesis, Kazhan, and Vampire, have been delivered. In addition, the military received more than 5,000 reusable FPV copters.

Another 1.1 million FPV kamikaze drones ordered by the Defense Ministry to meet the needs of the Defense Forces’ combat units were transferred by the State Special Communications Service.

It is also planned to transfer about 100,000 more drones by the end of the year, the Defense Ministry reported.

The Defence Ministry emphasized that providing Ukrainian soldiers with modern drones remains a priority.

In early November, Hlib Kanevsky, Director of the Defense Ministry’s procurement department, shared that this year the defense ministry spent UAH 50 billion on the development of the UAV industry.

In particular, UAH 20 billion was spent on long-range drones. Five Ukrainian companies have already received long-term contracts to produce such unmanned aerial vehicles.

For 2024-2025, the Ministry of Defense, together with the Ministry of Digital Transformation, has contracted 1.8 million drones for almost UAH 147 billion. This includes a wide range of models that perform various tasks on the battlefield.
