Aircraft of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed a stronghold used to launch drones towards the Sumy region.
This was reported on the official Facebook page of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The report says that the strike involved aircraft of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which delivered a precision strike on an enemy object near the village of Yelizavetivka, Kursk region of the Russian Federation.
The published footage of the strike shows that the munitions explode close to each other, indicating the use of precision-guided aircraft munitions, and the explosion itself resembles that of a 1000-pound Mark 83 (460 kg) bomb.
The stronghold belonged to the 28th Rifle Battalion of the 60th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces, which was used to launch drones to attack Ukrainian Defense Forces positions in the Sumy region.
According to the General Staff, the strike was part of systematic actions to weaken the potential of enemy forces on the border with Ukraine and neutralize any means that could be used against the Ukrainian population and military.
“The enemy must realize that any aggression against Ukraine will have inevitable consequences,” the General Staff added.
In addition, it has recently become known that the Air Force of Ukraine had begun using 1,000-pound (454 kg) Mark 83 bombs, which had been adapted to use the JDAM-ER precision-guided missile system.
The use of these bombs was noticed in one of the published videos, where they were dropped from a Su-27 fighter and the moment the bomb hit the enemy target was shown.
Prior to this, official videos showed the use of 500-pound (227 kg) Mark 82 aircraft bombs, which were used with both JDAM-ER and French precision-guided AASM, also known as Hammer, systems.
Earlier, Militarnyi reported that the aviation of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine had conducted a precision strike on the command post of the 2nd Guards Combined Arms Army of the Russian Federation.
The enemy command post was located in Novohrodivka, a town in the temporarily occupied part of the Donetsk region.
Given the small distance of the settlement from the line of contact, it can be assumed that the strike was carried out with guided aerial bombs, in particular, American JDAMs or French AASMs could have been used.
