Ukraine plans to get gunpowder from Argentina

The Ukrainian government plans to negotiate the supply of Argentine gunpowder to the country.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, said this in an interview with Argentine journalists.

Ukraine is working with the Argentine government of Javier Milei on cooperation between defense companies.

It regards the production of weapons parts, drones, naval drones, and electronic defense systems.

Zelenskyi noted that Argentina might not be able to provide Ukraine with weapons, but hopes for defense cooperation.

“We have drones, electronic defense systems, and we want to develop this together with Argentina. We have already studied some of the opportunities that Argentina has, and we would like to develop this type of cooperation, to do joint production,” Zelenskyi said.

The President emphasized that Ukraine’s defense industry was currently facing a shortage of gunpowder. Ukraine is ready to cooperate with Argentina in this area.

In Argentina, the explosives factory of the Fabricaciones Militares company in the city of Villa María produces gunpowder.

The plant is located on a 316-hectare site about 7 km from the city center in the province of Córdoba.

The Argentine company Fabricaciones Militares also offers its customers propellant charges for 155-mm shells.

The use of a cartridge bag makes it possible to complete an artillery shot in advance and increase the rate of fire of artillery.

In March it became known that Argentina had handed over to Ukraine two Mi-171E helicopters initially acquired from Russia.
