Ukraine and Canada Sign 100-Year Partnership and Drone Deal

Ukraine and Canada signed a Declaration on 100-Year Partnership, which provides for expanding cooperation to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership.

This became known following the meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney in Calgary, the Office of the latter reported.

As part of the agreements, the states are launching their first deal on unmanned systems (Drone Deal) with a country in the Americas.

In Alberta, the leaders inspected drone models that will be the first to be deployed as part of this defense initiative.

The agreement provides for Canada to order large quantities of drones, with 30% of the manufactured equipment to be supplied to Ukraine.

The parties expressed their intention to establish a long-term defense-industrial partnership for the joint production of unmanned systems, counter-drone systems, and electronic warfare systems.

In addition, the Canadian side confirmed a new military aid package aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s air defense.

Canada will focus on supplying the necessary air defense systems and interceptor missiles, while continuing to provide ammunition and military equipment.

The partners extended the Operation UNIFIER training mission to prepare Ukrainian service members through 2029.

Both countries will deepen cooperation in intelligence, cyber defense, countering hybrid threats and foreign information manipulation.

It is worth recalling that on January 16, Volodymyr Zelensky and former British Prime Minister Keir Starmer signed an agreement on a century-long partnership between the two countries.

During a joint press conference, the President of Ukraine announced an agreement on continued annual military assistance and an expansion of the training program for Ukrainian troops.
