Reconnaissance operatives of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine’s Primary special unit eliminated one of the most valuable Russian aircraft – a Ka-27 naval multipurpose helicopter in Crimea.

The DIU reported that the enemy used this helicopter for patrolling and anti-submarine missions. This is probably the first documented loss of a Ka-27 of this type by the Russian Federation.

The Ka-27’s advantages over other aircraft of this model:

  • It can carry torpedoes (e.g., AT-1M, UMGT-1, APR-2, etc.) or up to 36 deep buoys
  • Emergency / search and rescue modifications can have cargo compartments, a lifting system, etc.
  • The device is equipped with sensors for searching for submarines: sonars, magnetometer, hydroacoustic systems.

The operation took place on the temporarily occupied peninsula, where Russians deployed equipment at one of the air defense facilities.

In addition to the helicopter, the reconnaissance operatives hit the airfield radar complex “Lira-A10”, which provided airspace surveillance.

The 55Zh6U Nebo-U radar, part of the Russian long-range detection system, was also destroyed.

The Nebo-SV dome radar, an element of the Russian echelon air defense system, also came under attack.

In addition, the scouts destroyed the Soviet backup radar P-18 Terek.

The video of the operation shows precise hits by Ukrainian drones and subsequent explosions at Russian positions.

It also shows a Ukrainian UAV skillfully avoiding a Pantsyr-S1 missile passing a few meters away.

At the end of the video, the scouts showed a “bonus aesthetic shot” – a bird’s flight key over the Crimean sky.

Recently, the Prymary also destroyed three occupiers’ air defense systems in Donbas.
