Shooting of Prisoners near Shakhove Classified as War Crime

The Russian invasion forces allegedly shot two Ukrainian military servicemen near the village of Shakhove in the Pokrovsk sector.

The incident was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine with reference to the materials of the pre-trial investigation.

According to preliminary data, during the assault, the Russian military captured two soldiers of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

After the capture, the invaders forced one of the prisoners to partially undress.

“Subsequently, both Ukrainian servicemen were shot,” the Prosecutor General’s Office stated.

The Prosecutor General’s Office noted that the actions of the Russian military bear signs of the intentional killing of prisoners of war.

Criminal proceedings were opened under the article on violation of the laws and customs of war.

The Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets reacted to the incident.

The Ombudsman emphasized that such crimes are a systematic practice of the aggressor state and should be recorded for further international investigation.

Recently, Russians also shot five prisoners of war in the Pokrovsk sector.
