Romania has launched the MOBEX București–Ilfov 26 mobilization exercises, which will take place from October 5 to 12, 2026, in Bucharest and Ilfov County.

According to Romania’s Ministry of National Defense, around 10,000 reservists will be called up to military units as part of the exercises.

Reservists will report to designated military units on the date specified in their call-up notices, where they will undergo one day of training.

Representatives of Romania’s Ministry of Internal Affairs will deliver the notices.

According to the Ministry of National Defense, the exercises are intended to assess the population’s readiness for national defense, as well as procedures for reinforcing defense and national security structures with personnel and material resources.

In addition to the Ministry of National Defense, the MOBEX B-IF-26 exercises involve the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Romanian Intelligence Service, the Special Telecommunications Service, and the National Administration of Penitentiaries.

The Ministry of National Defense of Romania says that MOBEX exercises are planned and held every year, usually covering up to ten counties.

Similar exercises were held in Bucharest and Ilfov last year, but at the time the military tested only some units to minimize the impact on civilian life.

Training exercises for reservists and volunteers are being held more frequently across NATO countries amid growing security challenges. This is due in part to Russia’s aggression, as well as increased Russian espionage and sabotage activities in NATO member states.

Militarnyi previously reported that large-scale Blåtand military exercises began in Denmark on October 1, involving more than 6,500 soldiers from the Danish Home Guard (Hjemmeværnet).

The exercises took place between October 1 and 4 across Jutland and the island of Funen. In some areas, participants conducted training exercises near key civilian infrastructure facilities.
