Satellite images captured in Dwell Fine mode on November 7 and 14, 2025, detected Y-20 activity at China’s Kaifeng Air Base.
According to ICEYE, the images capture several Y-20 aircraft, likely military transport planes.
The source also indicates that the aircraft are positioned both inside protective shelters and out on the airbase runway.
They also note that Dwell Fine mode enables the collection of more detailed data on objects that remain parked for extended periods.
The detection of Y-20 aircraft inside hardened shelters may indicate a heightened state of readiness or efforts to preserve aviation assets, the publication notes.
The Y-20 is the primary heavy military transport aircraft of the People’s Liberation Army of China.
These aircraft are used for strategic troop, equipment, and logistical supply transport.
The reasons for and the nature of the recorded activity at Kaifeng Air Base have not yet been officially commented on.
As previously reported, Iran recently presented the Oqab 44 underground air base.
