Satellite Images Confirm Damage to Two Russian Defense Plants
News

Images of Russian defense plants VNIIR-Progress and Azov Optical-Mechanical Plant, which produce components for strike drones and missiles, show destruction of production facilities.

The images were published by the Osint projects Dnipro and CyberBoroshno.

After a drone attack on the Russian plant VNIIR-Progress in Cheboksary on July 5, at least one An-196 drone hit the roof of the newly built building of the enterprise.

In addition to the hole in the roof, there are specific traces of a large fire, which may indicate that a significant area has been burned out and production equipment damaged.

The company is the main manufacturer of Kometa CRPA satellite navigation antennas, which are used in Russian Shahed-136 drones. After they appeared in the Russian army’s arsenal, the company scaled up its production capacity, so it is possible that the newly built workshop was intended for their production.

The scale of the fire at the plant is confirmed by eyewitness footage taken immediately after the drone attack.

Azov Optical-Mechanical Plant

The day before, new Ukrainian drones with delta wings struck two buildings of an optical-mechanical plant in the city of Azov, Rostov region.

Satellite images show that the workshops were hit, but other details of the damage remain unknown.

The Azov Optical-Mechanical Plant, part of the Russian Tactical Missile Armament Corporation, is a manufacturer of electronic systems for high-precision artillery, missile, and anti-tank weapons, as well as radar homing heads for tactical guided missiles.

It is known that it supplies missile guidance systems, weapon stabilization systems for armored vehicles, navigation and laser devices for aviation and UAVs, and electronic warfare equipment.

In addition, the company manufactures optical-mechanical and optical-electronic products and equipment for the aerospace industry of the aggressor country.

Recently, Ukrainian drones attacked PJSC “Energia,” the largest manufacturer of batteries for Russian weapons.
