Poland and the United Kingdom have signed a security and defense partnership agreement.

The document was signed by the prime ministers of both countries, Donald Tusk and Keir Starmer, during a meeting in London, reports Defence24.

The agreement aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the defense sector and significantly enhance the cybersecurity of Poland and the UK.

According to the Polish prime minister, this agreement is intended to serve as an additional tool for rapid bilateral response in the event of threats, even before a consensus decision is reached by all 32 NATO member states.

For his part, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer emphasized that the signed document opens up broad opportunities for new joint investments.

An official statement from Downing Street revealed additional details, which include the joint design and production of modern interceptors for air and missile defense systems.

In particular, the defense ministries and industrial enterprises of both countries plan to establish production of medium-range anti-aircraft missiles.

This step will expand technological cooperation between the Polish defense-industrial complex and British companies, notably MBDA UK, which already supplies CAMM missiles for Poland’s Narew air defense program.

In addition to missile technologies, the agreement provides for joint military exercises aimed at refining cooperation in countering unmanned aerial vehicles and conducting electronic warfare.

The countries also agreed to deepen the exchange of intelligence and accelerate coordination of efforts to counter hybrid threats, cyberattacks, and disinformation campaigns from Russia.

Poland has received preliminary approval from the US State Department to localize the production of missiles for Patriot air defense missile systems.

Currently, missiles for these systems are also manufactured in Japan under license, in addition to the United States.
