Khartiya Builds Multi-Layered Defense Line in the Kharkiv Direction

The 2nd Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine Khartiya, together with other units of the Defense Forces, is building a deep-echeloned line of defense in the Kharkiv sector.

This was reported to Militarnyi by the corps’ press service.

Work on establishing defensive positions is being carried out as part of a unified plan to strengthen the defense of Ukrainian cities.

Ukrainian defenders aim to create an extensive system of trenches and foxholes, construct anti-tank ditches, and erect a reliable network of non-explosive barriers.

In the sections of the front line under construction, military personnel and supporting forces are building dugouts and other engineering elements of fortifications.

At this stage, the focus is on creating an outer ring, which includes anti-tank trenches tens of kilometers long, circles of tetrahedrons, tens of kilometers of barbed wire, and thousands of meters of low-visibility obstacles.

The next planned stage of large-scale construction in this specific direction will be the establishment of an inner defense ring. It should be noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are also building a continuous line of defense along the border with Belarus and Russia, stretching from the Kyiv Reservoir to the city of Sumy.

According to Vasyl Syrotenko, Chief of the Engineering Troops of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Support Command, this is being done to prevent the enemy from creating a so-called buffer zone in this area and pushing the Defense Forces back from the state border.

The defense line is being built not only in the 20-kilometer frontline zone but also at a distance of up to 100 km from the border. Additionally, new countermeasures against FPV drones are being implemented using fiber-optic cables.

In April-May, members from the 23rd Assault Regiment R.U.G. of the Khartiya Corps carried out a successful operation in the Vovchansk direction.

Ukrainian servicemen and foreign volunteers from Latin American countries were involved in the combat mission.
