Satellite Imagery: Strike Damaged Five Workshops at Plant Involved in Kh-101 and Oreshnik Production

Satellite imagery shows damage to the Azov Optical and Mechanical Plant (AOMZ), which is involved in the production of Kh-101, Kh-35U, and Kh-59/Kh-69 cruise missiles, as well as Oreshnik intermediate-range ballistic missiles.

The Absolutely Reliable Source Telegram channel published the satellite imagery.

Judging by the imagery, six buildings were hit. According to the channel, they house five production workshops.
Workshop 022, a foundry comprising two buildings, was hit. A fire and significant damage were recorded at the site.

Workshop 024, the machining workshop, also sustained significant damage, with part of its roof collapsing.

In addition, workshop 008, which produces optics; workshop 009, an assembly workshop; and workshop 010, an electroplating workshop, were damaged.

The Ukrainian Navy and the SSU’s Special Operations Center Alpha launched the strike on the night of September 26.

The attack involved Ukrainian Neptune cruise missiles as well as RUTA, Palianytsia, and Bars jet-powered drones.

Azov Optical and Mechanical Plant

The Azov Optical and Mechanical Plant joint-stock company is part of Russia’s Tactical Missiles Corporation and is one of its key optoelectronic production facilities.

The plant produces, among other things, radar and infrared seekers for guided missiles, thermal imaging devices, and electronic systems for precision-guided artillery.

The plant also supplies components for anti-tank weapons production, weapon stabilization systems for armored vehicles, navigation and laser equipment for aircraft and UAVs, and electronic warfare systems.

The enterprise also manufactures optomechanical and optoelectronic products and equipment for Russia’s aerospace industry.

Following a document leak, researchers found that AOMZ is involved in producing Kh-31P anti-radiation missiles, short-range R-74 and long-range R-37M air-to-air missiles, Kh-101 and Kh-35U cruise missiles, Kh-59/Kh-69 cruise missiles, and Oreshnik intermediate-range ballistic missiles.

Open-source information also indicates that the enterprise is involved in producing KAB-250, KAB-500, and KAB-1500 guided aerial bombs and the Kh-38ML short-range air-to-surface missile.
