Safran Aircraft Engines has announced a major expansion of its Le Creusot plant, which specializes in the manufacture of complex rotating parts for aircraft engines.

The project involves an investment of €70 million and will be an important step in strengthening the company’s production capabilities.

Currently, the Le Creusot plant only manufactures low-pressure discs for LEAP and CFM56 engine turbines installed on Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 aircraft.

The expansion will add new production lines for M88 engine parts used on Rafale fighter jets and GE90 parts used on Boeing 777s.

The expansion involves the construction of an additional 9,000 m² of production space, bringing the total area of the facility to 26,000 m². The new system is scheduled to start operating in 2029, and the number of employees will increase from the current 200 to 300 by 2032.

Le Creusot will become the second industrial base for the production of complex M88 engine parts, complementing the plant in Corbeil-Essonnes.

This will ensure continuity of production and significantly increase the rate of engine deliveries for the Rafale. The first parts processing operations will begin as early as 2026.
